Antonio looked down at the town map, then back up at his surroundings. He never imagined the city to be so big! There were many tall buildings as you got deeper into the city, and a lot more people where food was sold too.
He suddenly remembered something, "ah! Río? Where did you go?" He searched frantically around his feet, even dropping to the ground (earning strange looks from passerby's). He made little cooing and clicking sounds, trying to call back the little blue pokemon back to him "Río! Río where did you go?"
"kip!~" his head looked up to see his little mudkip, staring into a resturant window. "oh there you are!~" He walked over to pick the little pokmon up. "you must be hungry" he said, pulling out a tamato berry and feeding it to her. I'll buy us some sandwiches and then we'll go find a nice place to eat~"
Placing Río on his shoulders, he walked over to a small sandwich shop and bought a basket of them. "Now to find a nice place to eat...

"Beaver City, huh?" Canada muttered to himself, checking his map. This seemed to be the right place, but there wasn't any way to be sure-
Eh, never mind. The sign in front of the nation proclaimed that this was, indeed, Beaver City, home of the beaver, which Matthew really did not understand. His country was the only one in the world where the beaver lived, last time he checked. This Joebob region place thingy was really, really weird. He sighed, and set off into the town at a slow pace. A small green monster thing followed.
It was a big place, with skyscrapers and street vendors and homeless people and just plain odd people. It felt a bit like Toronto, Canada thought. But then he would see Fearow flying around the skyscrapers, Aipoms helping to serve customers at the vendors, and then he thought, okay, maybe not quite like Toronto.
Maple rubbed against the Canadian's leg after they had walked for ten blocks, eyes screwed up into a eerily puppy-like face. "Eh?" Matthew bent down, scratching the Chikorita's head. "What's wrong?"
It's stomach growled.
Canada blushed, feeling like a fool. Of course Maple would be hungry, they had been walking since early that morning on a very light breakfast. "Um, don't worry!" he said, picking up the little Pokemon. Now that he thought about, Canada could use some poutine at the moment. "Let's go see if they have a Timmie's in town, eh!"
There wasn't. They had to settle for the next best thing they could find, a small sandwich shop set in the side of one building. They didn't have poutine, or maple syrup, but there was a sale on Pokemon food, Pokeblocks and Poffins, so Canada stocked up on that, buying a coffee and a basket of plastic wrapped sandwiches for himself.
After giving Maple a Poffin, just to keep her going, he looked around for a good place to sit down and break. "Excuse me, sir," he said, approaching one dark-haired man and his Mudkip, "is there a park or someplace near-" he broke off.
"Monsieur Antonio?"

"Huh?" He said, and unwrapped sandwich in his mouth. Antonio's eyes widened at the newcomer. "oh!" Rio took this chance to snatch the sandwich out of Antonio's mouth, "You're umm... Matthew right?" He turned to look at Matt completely. He almost would have mistaken him for Alfred if it wasn't for the silly curl that popped out of his head; and the fact that he was speaking french of course.
"Oh uh, I didn't expect to see anyone else here today." He placed Río down on the ground as it continued to eat his sandwich. He shuffled the basket on to his left hand. "It's nice to see you~ " he said, in his cheery-as-ever voice, "oh and it looks like you were about to eat too!~ "He said, gesturing at Matthew's basket.
"Kip~ " he suddenly heard from down below; Río cried out happily at Matthew's chikorita. "It looks like Río wants you to join us too~ what do you say Matt?" He looked around at all the people on the street.
Of course, we could find a quieter area to eat in if you'd like. I don't mind~"

The 'umm' was all Matthew needed know- again, he was mistaken for Alfred. He sighed a bit inside, thinking that if his papa's best friend didn't know him on site, there wasn't much hope for him. Maybe, when he got home, he should start developing nuclear weapons, and maybe, the world would notice him. Maybe.
But the Spaniard was being nice, and that was more important than whether he recognized the North American nation or not. And the Mudkip- what was it's name, Rio, eh- seemed to like Maple already, and Maple the reverse. They were talking away happily in that language of the creatures, which sounded different from each individual, but all except humans seemed to understand. The blond smiled. Life was going well today.
"Sure, eh!" he replied, "Maple seems to want to, too." He looked around at the crowded streets, reminiscent of Montreal during rush hour in a not so positive way. "But a quieter spot might be better." Matthew briefly set down his basket and pulled out his map. Scanning the complicated maze of roads and alleyways in the form of red and blue lines, he finally saw what he was looking for.
"There's a public park not too far from here, about another two blocks." The Canadian glanced up, to make sure that Antonio was following. "We can head there if we head down, um," he paused, then pointed west-ish, "that way."

(now that I am feeling much better. I can write something that makes gramatical sense > sort of ) "That sounds great! I really nice place to go out for a picnic don't you think?" He said, enthusiasm seemed to pour right out of him through his voice. His little mudkip, much like its owner, began to hop around a little bit. It was almost as if these two were made for each other. He picked up his tiny pokemon and placed it in the basket, putting in a few tamato berries so it wouldn't eat the entire sandwich basket. "So in a few blocks we'll be there right? We should start walking. It's never good to go hungry for such a long time!~" He slung his bag over his shoulder and turned back to Matthew, keeping an ever so optimistic smile. "Do you mind leading thew way? I don't really know much about this town other than the part we're in." He hoped the canadian would have a better sense of direction than he did. The map he carried around didn't make as much sense as he wanted it too. It was very vague, only listing routes and cities but not much detail into them. "I hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble." He apologized to Matthew. (short post is short orz. Sorry again Matty ;A; )

"Oh, don't worry about it, eh! This is no problem." Cities were just concrete forests, after all. Back home, the blond could navigate his way through the woods with an uncanny ease day or night. This town wouldn't be a problem.
Matthew made a gesture with his hand, indicating for Antonio to follow, as he set off down the street. Well, this place was cleaner that Montreal- fewer smokers, less litter, an all around nice place. Maple liked it, too, seeing how she was frolicking ahead of him. And the sidewalks were large, too. Didn't seem like a very big city for cars.
And there were more Pokemon. There were Pokemon on every street, battling, relaxing, eating, playing, even flying when they weren't Flying Types. It made Matthew happy to just be looking around in this place, made him forget his worries and fears about his homeland.
Before he knew it, they had arrived at a park in every way the equal of Mount Royal. The smile that had started a block back was stretching into a wider, bliss filled expression. "Here looks good," he said, plopping his basket down onto a table. "What do you think?"

((OTL I'M SO SORRY FOR THE SUPER LATE LATE LATE LATE REPLY. I HAVE NO EXCUSES OTHER THAN THAT I FAIL -keelsself-.) )
He was really impressed with Matthew. Being able to navigate through a new city like that. Sure, Spain had large cities too. But he grew up with them, slowly learning his way though. This city was new (at least to him) and it would be a while before he had to stop relying on maps and other people to go through it.
"This spot looks great!~ " he placed his own basket and his pokemon on to the table. The little blue mudfish hopped off the table and danced around the area. "hey! I think Río likes it too! Look at her!~" He squealed. "I think this place definately is good!"
He pulled out another tamato berry for his pokemon, who gobbled it up quickly. He unwrapped another sandwich for himself and began to nibble at the end of it. He wondered what he would do after lunch. Triaining up his pokemon would be a bit tedious. He had only been in a few battles before, but they were small one on ones with lower leveled pokemon and wild pokemon. He glanced over at Matt.
"Hey, what if you and me battle? If you don't mind that is~ I think it would be good for our pokemon right? " he said, gesturing to their two starters.
